Artist David Dent exhibited at Deauville for several years, and worked with an eccentric French artist The Count of Argenton. Whilst out with a couple of well known French jockeys in the evening an animated conversation took place. David had asked what the visual and the feeling was like in a driving finish of a flat race. The reply came:
“Tout c’est rouge. C’est l’adrenalin”
“Oui oui, the other jockey added, “et c’est le meme pout le cheval”
Everything goes red; it’s the colour of adrenaline….and it’s the same for the horse.
Hence the inspiration for these exciting and explosive images of horse and rider in adrenaline fuelled harmony giving all they have.
This striking and contemporary image worked on by both artists is called “Maintenant!” (“Now!”)
And is signed with the stirrup and whip joint signature of both artists.
