RACING NOIR : the new series
A series of vintage inspired images; which not only celebrate the seductive period fashions of the time but also the dark side of horse racing.
Done in a film noir style. Evil can be elegant and its allure infectious. But perhaps sometimes the apparent dark side is honest and true.
Gentleman gangsters, hoods, villainous jockeys and femme fatales take centre stage with well researched period fashions and horses of the time.
The dark sexy glamour of seamed stockings and bribery; naive owners tucked up and stable stuff beaten within an inch of their lives for failing to deliver good information; mink coats and cigarettes; raincoats and trilbies, veiled hats and dry martinis; jockeys caps before the helmets and horses with hoods; legendary horses of the period and stylish automobiles. These will be the themes. It was far from a perfect world but in the 1930s and 1940s there was a freedom we fought the looming spectre of fascism for.
We hope you enjoy this celebration of the dark side of racing as much as we enjoyed producing them.
Keep your eyes peeled for cameos of Sea Biscuit War Admiral Phar Lap and others.
