Legends:The Way We Were 1964: Arkle and Mill House at Newbury”
(Edition 250)
approx 610x280mm
The greatest of them all, the legendary Arkle., himself. Pictured after one of his epic batlles with mill House, here in Newbury’s Hennessy Gold Cup.
And as is legions of fans from Ireland greet him in, the connections including Anne Duchess of Westminster, lead him.
In the foreground however a reminder of the spirit of the age. Two glamorous women accompany perhaps a city stockbroker or MP on a jaunt to the races; and as if to cast a raised eyebrow on proceedings, a lady opposite casts over a smile. Are the two women, one of whom is reminiscent of Christine Keeler, high class mayfair call girls? Or maybe models or air hostesses. You decide. What is in no doubt however, is once again the fur clad cigarette smoking glamour they add to the occasion.
