Amazing action image in oils by D.M.Dent
Phillip Carberry and Sublimity on their way to winning the Cheltenham champion hurdle.
The detail of action is enhanced by vivid abstraction of the background through skilled handling and patience in throwing wet underpaint at the canvas and then in the subject some of this is allowed to come through by working in transparent glazes. This mixture of avant garde and classical oil technique is unique to David Dent and a brilliant example of his ability and passion for the subject of horse racing. The result of speed and motion captured is fascinating and a vivid and exciting image is achieved.
