Part of a new series called "This Sporting Life"
Original watercolour by D.M.Dent capturing the fashions of the 1950s and atmosphere of a night at a speedway stadium as children flock to the pits before the start of the match to get autographs from the riders and their model/actress girlfriends . Speedway at this time was a huge spectator sport with crowds of up to 80 000.
The riders in the image are generic but they bear the team colours of Belle Vue Aces and New Cross.
HOWEVER in the prints you can have any team colours you wish with original work added to order. So if you wanted for example Wimbledon v Poole Pirates then it's possible to order just press contact us and let us know with your order.
It is named after and inspired by the movie "Once a Jolly Swagman".
The stadium is generic.
