Part of a new series called "This Sporting Life"
Original watercolour by D.M.Dent caputuring the fashions of the 1950s and atmosphere of a night at a speedway stadium as children flock to the pits before the start of the match to get autographs from the riders and their model/actress girlfriends . Speedway at this time was a huge spectator sport with crowds of up to 80 000.
The riders in the image are generic but they bear the team colours of Belle Vue Aces and New Cross.
It is named after and inspired by the movie "Once a Jolly Swagman".
The stadium is generic.
Measures 55cms x 21cms unframed. Will be mounted and sent flat packed if UK free delivery.
