Robert Stephens Gallops in Penhow is the subject of this work close to the Dents home and hearts. David Dent:
"I wanted to capture the Autumn landscape and the rain with the horses exertions and breath. This is what Monmouthshire my home county is all about to me - dozens of good racing trainers and tradition of equestrianism and beautiful landscape and I hope it resonates with others from the area too. Or indeed any area where the sight of racehorses on the gallops sets your heart racing: I hope it has generic appeal and celebrates the efforts of stable staff in all weathers a recurring theme in our work. The area has great biodiversity beautiful scenery and the economic activities of racing and sheep farming help keep it that way acting as a barrier to urban development. The painting was commissioned by Alison Mossop and her horse Beltor leads followed by Bumble Bay, Balkinstown, First Destination, and Mere Anarchy. A yard well worth following."
