Artist David Dent:
"This started as a page of studies of the 1959 Aston Martins that won at Le Mans in 1959. The event was the year I was born and the story was a big influence on kids growing up in the sixties. I was pleased with the drawings of the cars so began to add in some of the personalities and some fashions from the time including my partner Zorica modelling for me in period clothing. The 'real' characters I've put in are winning drivers Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby, team driver Stirling Moss and his wife, Aston Martin boss David Brown, Miss Europe who was there, and various others. It kind of evolved so put in a hint of the pits, stands behind and also the Aston Martin tent etc. Hopefully I've captured some of the spirit and glamour of the time as well as the iconic Aston Martins"
